amc.tattoos |Aftercare Guide|

Thank you for your being tattooed by me— Please read through the following information, as this reviews the best steps to caring for your new artwork!

Tattoo aftercare doesn’t require intense or specialized treatment — just consistent, proper hygiene.

Your primary role is to support your body’s natural healing process by keeping the area clean, moisturized, and protected.

Temporary diligence during healing leads to optimal results and long-term satisfaction with your tattoo!

WEEK #1 | DAYS 1-2: THE MOST CRUCIAL STAGE-

  • Hand wash tattoo area 2 - 3 times daily with warm water and the Antibacterial Dial Gold soap. (Hand wash only, no wash cloths or shower scrubs.)

  • Air or pat dry, do not rub. Using clean paper towels is a great way to keep the tattoo sanitary.

DAYS 3 - 7: SORE AND DRY!

By days 3 and 4, it’s normal for your tattoo to still feel a bit sore and possibly continue to weep slightly. However, in most cases, the drying phase has begun by this point. During the first week, your main focus should be to continue following the aftercare routine gently washing and moisturizing your tattoo each day.

Here’s what you can typically expect during this stage:

  • Black/colored flakes coming off with every wash. You are shedding!

  • Tightness and dryness to the tattoo area.

  • Moisturize with an unscented white lotion.

  • You cannot over apply lotion, get that tattoo feeling good and soaking it up whenever needed!

  • Itching! Dry skin itches, please do not scratch your healing tattoo.

  • Scabs can be normal during the healing process. Do not pick or pull the scabbing areas.
Wash and moisturize as normal allowing the scabs and tattoo to heal naturally.

WEEK #2 AND #3: YOU MADE IT!

You made it through week one — yay! At this stage, you’re probably feeling a lot better and getting back to normal, but your tattoo still needs a little extra love. It’s totally normal to see some lingering dryness and light flaking, especially in the shower. Just keep gently washing and moisturizing each day.

Around the three-week mark, your tattoo should feel fully healed and start to feel like part of your skin again. Until then, stay consistent with your aftercare — you’re doing great, and you’re so close to the finish line!
